Stripe Prints

From a distance these works appear to be a mixture of Californian colourism and abstract expressionism. The colours and patterns create a strong visual impression, but examined more closely the viewer can see the details that create the patterns. Each component of the artwork is a manipulated digital photograph that examines common themes within landscape, whether it be the grass, rocks, or bays of the Avalon peninsular, or the contrasting sunsets in Newfoundland, Europe and Central Canada or a selection of flowers.

The key aim of these works is to manipulate the visual impression and its subsequent interpretation by the viewer as they approach and retreat from each artwork, changing its very nature.

Stripes in Series were exhibited at the Christina Parker Gallery in St John's, Newfoundland and the Toronto International Artfair, both in 2007.
