Kinetic Portraits. The portraits on the left are currently being exhibited at the Confederation Centre for the Arts in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island as part of 10 & 60 to mark the 60th year of Newfoundland’s Confederation with Canada. The sitters were drawn from a range of prominent Newfoundlanders who where, to put it simply, videoed. The results are a striking range of moving portraits that capture and witness the subjects reliving their own experiences, on camera. This process gives the viewer a true glimpse of the sitter and creates a genuine memoralization of the subject. The subjects are actor: Mary Walsh, artist: Mary Pratt, broadcaster: Diane Humer, clergy: Bishop Harvey, director: Barbara Doran, entrepeneur: Craig Dobbin, healthcare reformer: Sister Elizabeth Davis, musician: Alan Doyle, philospher: James Bradley, politician: John Crosbie, Supreme Court Judge: John Mahoney, writer: Lisa More. Please click on an image on the left to see the portrait. The portraits are QuickTime movies. If you don’t have QuickTime installed you can download it for free from here. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Peter. |
